Machida edged Henderson on the scorecards by dodging heavy punches and delivering surgically placed counter shots.

The light heavyweight bout co-headlined Saturday's UFC 157 event at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Check your math.Bell and Peoples both gave Henderson the third.(I believe it was even or the TD gave the advantage to Dan, so this is correct)Clearly and Peoples both gave Henderson the first.(Machida outstruck Dan in this round and took him down and landed shots at the end, should go for Machida imo)So Bell has the correct card and Peoples is both in the minority opinion and scored the least correct card by the numbers.

The fight should've just been called a draw. No one did anything to deserve a win.Derek Bell gave Machida the 1st and 2nd round.Derek Clearly gave Machida the 2nd and 3rd round.Cecil Peoples gave Henderson the 1st and 3rd rounds.So no one agreed on anything except the 2nd round going to Machida. This fight was just another in the long list of examples showing the judges, scoring system, and the fighters attitudes about fighting to finish over going for points all need an overhaul and a healthy dose of expecting more significant engagement added to them.

Machida was inactive for this fight, even for Machida. He averaged about 1.9 total strikes landed per minute. That's the 2nd lowest inactivity he's ever had in a fight. The only fight where it was lower had a fair amount of time on the ground where he won by submission instead of strikes. His average strikes landed per minute is about 4.1 and when he's actually finished via strikes it's been 2.6 slpm at the very least, and usually between 4-6 slpm. Whether you're a fan of his style or not, no one should be praising that amount of inactivity. When he uses the same general style but is more active he's knocking people out or getting solid UD's in decent fights. But when he fought like last night it's pretty weak.

But they fought the fight Machida wanted, isn't controlling the fight controlling the octagon? Just because he doesn't control it in the traditional boxing/kickboxing didn't mean he didn't control about 90% of that fight.

Machida hasnt had this boring decision win arguably since Tito in f'in 2008. Since then, the only dec win he had was vs Shogun and he attacked plenty in that. He's finished Thiago, Rashad, Randy and Bader since then but of course all that gets typically UG flushed down the drain from 1 bout which also happened to be against the most dangererous right hand in the sport with possibly the toughest chin as well which you twats expected Machida to abandon his actual skill against and fight "exciting" for ya.LOL at "MMA fans."

You really are only as good as your last fight, eh, you little shits?You really expect Machida in such a huge stake bout against the most dangerous right hand in the sport to brawl and stand in front of Dan? Ok. Lets fight like a tard to entertain them in one of the most important bouts in both fighters' careers. He was far more active than the Rampage fight, he was baiting Dan with kicks, caught Dan numerous times when Dan came charging in. 5 rounds would have been better but it was what it was. A few more things: no dis to Dan but can everyone finally agree now Dan has little ground game/GNP? Machida also escaped. And it was Machida won took Dan down in R1, how slick was that? And Machida had a couple nice GNP shots at the end of the round. Dan remained completely static in top position just like he did vs Anderson. Dan only hurts guys on the ground when he alredy hurts them standing up.I think 5 rounds would have had Machida opening up a bit more and there also giving Dan more opps too. Machida did start to put the pressure on more after the td in the 3rd too but he didnt do the stupid thing and just walk right up to Dan and brawl him like Shogun and Fedor. God, I hate "MMA fans."

The term you are looking for is EFFECTIVE AGGRESSOR... and if you're asking me if I think Machida was more effectively aggressive than Hendo was in the 2nd and 3rd rounds I'm saying without a doubt! The fight went pretty much how most of us expected. Hendo would walk forward and throw his right hand wildly. Machida would evade it and counter. As Machida picked up his timing he'd land more, and Hendo would either get really aggressive or calm his ass down as not to get KO'd. Watch ANY Mayweather fight and it's the same story. The only reason it was even a split is the same reason Mayweather and De La Hoya was a split... because people (like yourself) forget that aggression isn't good enough. It has to be effective aggression.

that fight was like flip a coin cause no one did much.hendo tried and tried but u can only try so much.lyotto landed a few more strikes but they were not nearly enough to say he def won. dan showed no sign of being hurt at all and controlled the octagon for sure.if dan didnt press the little action there was,there would have been no action at all.im just glad the women were main event cause i had no desire to watch two more round of that.
