TUF 17 Finale salaries: Faber could make 110k

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed the below salaries with MMAJunkie.

Urijah Faber $55,000/$55,000
Scott Jorgensen $23,500/$23,500

Miesha Tate $28,000/$28,000
Cat Zingano $7,000/$7,000

Gabriel Gonzaga $24,000/$24,000
Travis Browne $20,000/$20,000

Uriah Hall $8,000/$8,000
Kelvin Gastelum $8,000/$8,000

The figures do not represent an accurate assessment of each fighter's income.

Fighters bear significant costs including training expenses, a percentage to management, a percentage to the trainer, insurance, licenses, and taxes.

On the income side, sponsorship money can be substantial, although they have dropped markedly over the past couple of years. Further, the UFC often gives out undisclosed "locker room" bonuses for exceptional performance. In addition there are publicly announced 'of the Night' bonuses that are not reflected above.

Lastly, many fighters earn income from teaching, from appearances, and in many cases from regular employment in the non fighting space.

No, actually you still don't understand--unless you are saying GSP hasn't earned his spot with talent.  Is MMA a sport, or American Idol?  That is your dilemma.  I believe it is a sport. The promotion has nothing to do with endorsements an athlete obtains, any moreso than they played a role in obtaining GSP's victories.

Good for FABER if so. don't forget the UFC utilized his persona and star power to introduce the lower divisions to a degree with the transition from WEC etc.He was cream of the lower divisions at one time and not the top competition is catching up to him.

Lol, ok so now you know what you're saying is full of shit?  The promotion you fight for has a lot to do with how much you get for sponsorships.  Really you shouldn't be the one in this thread mentioning reading comprehension.

With Dana, sure. He's a promoter, it's his job to promote his company. But the fighters don't all say that... Rogan(probably the second largest voice coming from Zuffa behind Dana) doesn't say that

7k for a main event fighter is a joke. Senior guys like Gonzaga making 23k is a joke. He's been around since people thought Cro Cop was good. A union would straighten this out. No fugazi backstage envelopes. Fair contract for the fighters so they don't have to beg for handouts from Dana and sponsors. Union Now!

Ah---but you won't hear the UFC ever say that . . . will you? In fact, they preach to the masses all top talent is in the UFC, and for those that refuse to sign, they just don't want to face top talent. . . Isn't that the mantra?

Except that there are fighters outside of the UFC who are more talented than at least portions of the UFC roster, yet receive less sponsor attention because they are fighting on a smaller platform.Talent is not the only criteria for higher sponsor pay, and the biggest platform isn't entirely based on having every one of the most talented individuals. They just have to have the highest number of top guys and have to be able to convince people of that.
