Cormier defeats Mir by decision

Depending on a future decision, either the UFC heavyweight or light-heavyweight division has a new contender.

After turning out the lights on Strikeforce, Daniel Cormier, its heavyweight Grand Prix champion, finally made his octagon debut at UFC on FOX 7. Competing in his hometown of San Jose, California, Cormier found victory, earning a unanimous decision in the night's co-main event.

Was it a boring fight, yes... Did Cormier do what he had to do, yes. DC has won fights against some super talented guys and this wasn't his best performance. The reality is Mir couldn't do a thing. He had a lot of size on him and he just flat out got controlled. I'm really interested in who's next for DC. Mir is, well, Mir. It's safe to say he's reaching gatekeeper status more and more.

yea you guys keep mentioning brock.but did u see the first time when frank got his leg...and all the other motherfuckers fransisco has subbed before. why the fuck would you go there if you're already not feeling comfortable, thats his only chance in the world of winnning, and you dont have to.

they both hav said and repeatedly say their full out sparing session against each other or harder than the majority of their fights...could be a lil bias, but i think they are both being honest. any one can get caught and put away, but i believe if that doesent happen no one owns cain or cormier in any other way at hw.(i think jbj can beat cormier at lhw. better cardio, mor versatile, reach, id even argue better mma wrestling.)

I get why people are hating on DC as it was not the type of fight that most people enjoy. I do think that a lot of people are failing to appreciate how difficult it is to keep a man that is bigger and stronger than you from mounting any offense for 3 rounds. It's also Mirs job to prevent that from happening but he clearly did not have the skills or the will to keep DC from controlling the fight.

Cormier did the right thing though, he took zero damage and didn't need to try very hard to out dirty box the much larger Mir.
