Velasquez to make $400k win or lose

In some states, athletic commissions will reveal the salary for all fighters on the card a few days after the event. Nevada is one of those state and a full list of contracted show and win purses will be available next. MMAJunkie however was able to obtain the purses for the main and co-main event of tonight's UFC 160:

Cain Velasquez (11-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) hopes to walk away from tonight's UFC 160 event with the UFC heavyweight title around his waist. Whether he's successful or not, he'll find himself $400,000 richer.

MMAjunkie.com today confirmed with sources close to the event that Velasquez is scheduled to make a flat $400,000 paycheck at UFC 160 with no win bonus on the line.

His opponent, Antonio Silva (18-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC), is scheduled to make $75,000 to show and would earn another $75,000 with a win bonus.

In the night's heavyweight co-feature, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos (15-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) is scheduled to make $120,000 in show money with the potential for a $120,000 win bonus. His opponent, Mark Hunt (9-7 MMA, 4-1 UFC), will make $160,000 flat fee with no win bonus on the line.

FYI the UFC gave Cain a new deal even when he still had fights left on his old deal. That was an important detail.

Mediocre win? He mauled a monster of a man in bloody, gruesome fashion.

I'm a huge fan of JDS and rooted for him but a meniscus injury isn't even close to as bad as an acl injury. NBA players have had surgery on their meniscus and been back on the court in 2 weeks

Forget the injury, both Cain and JDS were in bad shape going into the fight. Cain got caught early and was taken out. No shame in it, but it is not as though it was just him hurt. JDS suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee week and a half before the fight. His training was done in a pool so as not to make it worse. Both guys were hurt, it annoys me that AKA opted to make a bigger deal about it going into the 2nd fight and try to rewrite history.Cain has been clipped in the past (See the Kongo fight) and JDS landed a good shot that hurt him badly.
