Liddell: I would have beat Anderson Silva

In his prime Chuck Liddell was certainly the most feared striker in mixed martial arts. Today that title definitely belongs to UFC middle weight champion Anderson Silva. Although they fought in different eras, the question has to who would win a fight is an interesting topic. Liddell, of course, already knows the answer:

He was asked by O Globo’s Gustavo Noblat about a theoretical fight between him and middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Liddell didn’t miss a beat, showing the same confidence he had in the era when he ruled the light-heavyweight division.

“I would beat him, I always said that I would. I have the advantage in weight and height, so it would be more likely that I would beat him,” he said. “ But Anderson is one of my favorite fighters.”

Probably because most of his dickriders act like he's never lost and can't be beaten.

Chuck loves to throw down and in his prime, Rampage beat him twice at it...and very likely if he fought Shogun back then, he would have lost to him as well. Pride had the better fighters at the heavier weight classes. Today, the UFC has almost all the best MMA fighters and Anderson finishes them with ease. There is no fighter in MMA with the striking abilities of Silva. Chuck was never that good and nobody considered him GOAT or a GOAT candidate, outside a few rabid UFC fans.

Bottom line if this fight happened before Liddell got knocked out (rashad) it would have been the highest selling fight of all time. I get the same feeling with both that I just wait for THAT MOMENT. They both have provided it, 5 years from now Anderson will talk about how he could beat that guy too. who will that guy be?

And how would that fight go today? Why people keep bringing up stuff from almost 10 years ago baffles me.
