'Little Nog' out of UFC 161 fight with 'Shogun'

Antonio Rogerio "Little Nog/Minotoro" Nogueira is out his fight vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua that had been scheduled for UFC 161 on June 15. No replacement has been found at this hour.

The scratch was first reported by GloboEsporte.com, and MMAjunkie.com has since confirmed the change with multiple sources close to the promotion.

GloboEsporte.com's report cited a herniated disc as the reason for the withdrawal. A timetable for his return was not immediately established.

Rua and Nogueira had been looking to renew a rivalry that began in 2005 when the two faced off in the quarterfinal round of PRIDE's middleweight grand prix.

In a fight that many news media outlets dubbed fight of the year, Rua earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory. Rua went on to win the star-studded and historic 16-man tournament a few months later.

Actually thats a very winnable fight for Chael. Shogun has been preparing for a boxer. Also if I remmember correctly in their first fight it was Shogun that was taking Nog down (although Rogerio might have gotten a takedown too) so he probably wasnt too worried about the grappling.Against Chael he would be fighting a takedown machine with great cardio, something he is absolutely not prepared for. Add Mauricio's recent history of gassing badly and its clear to see that Sonnen has a good shot at winning.I really hope the fight with nog still happens at a later date, I dont want to see Shogun lose another decision to point takedowns like Gustaffson.

Sonnen would just try to hold Shogun down. No thanks.

Sonnen is lobbying to fight Shogun.  Sure why not.  I would enjoy seeing him get his ass kicked again.

I herniated 3 discs in my back and the pain was the one of the most terrible experiences of my life. Any injury like that should be treated seriously. Look what happened to Kenny Florian for example. The fighters obviously make decisions on their health and I'm sure contracts and payments come into play. It's a lot at stake both for the promoter and the athlete with late cancellations.

He's back, lol.One would think after being banned 500 times you would either accept that you aren't wanted here or at least change up your posting style so everybody doesn't realize it's you again and promptly try to get rid of you again...
