Portaldovaletudo.uol.com.br is reporting that sources close to Lyoto Machida have confirmed that Machida will be fighting Phil Davis at UFC 163 on August 3, at HSBC Arena, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The news was confirmed by Mike Chiappetta.
Davis is coming off two consecutive victories, most recently a unanimous decision over Vinny Magalhaes at UFC 159.
Machida has won two straight, most recently a decision win over Dan Henderson. However, the decision was uneventful, which may have led to the UFC being more interested in Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson fight, rather than a rematch with Machida.
The card now looks like:
Jose Aldo vs. Anthony Pettis
Lyoto Machida vs Phil Davis
Demian Maia vs. Josh Koscheck
Cezar Mutante vs Clint Hester
Thales Leites vs. Tom Watson
Sergio Moraes vs. Neil Magny
Vinny Magalhaes vs. Anthony Perosh
