White: MMA will be the biggest sport in the world

Dana White: It's the fastest growing sport in the world and it's going to be the biggest sport in the world.

Rachel Crane: If the president of the United States wanted to come to your event tomorrow (UFC 159)?

Dana White: I'm not kidding you...We couldn't seat Obama. He'd have to sit on my lap.

Rachel Crane: Do you wish we were seating in Madison Square Garden right now?

Dana White: For me personally, to be sitting in Madison Square Garden holding an event, it's a personal milestone, achievment, another thing we've accomplished in the sport.

It won't. Can't he just be a realist instead of delusional?

Right attitude. Might be true, might not. But if he lived every day telling himself it wouldn't be the biggest then it wouldn't.Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

Oh ok. Because when you said the UFC's mma is failing, it made it sound like there was some alternative somewhere. So MMA in general is fading and is a fad. That sucks if true, I quite like it.

It's not, that's why it'll never be as big as real sports. The sad thing is that, while Dana and the UFC desperately chasing the mainstream acceptance have watered down and softened the event to the point of it being boring. There is a need for some serious changes, 10 minute first rounds, knees and kicks to grounded opponents, etc...But the UFC is too afraid to change anything.

You are mostly correct. This sport rode the wave of the ed hardy, affliction tribal tattoo, nu metal fad running through the USA in the mid 2000's which seemed to peak around 2009-2010 and now that fashion/ is past it's peak and on it's way to decline and UFC is that image and therefore will be riding the wave down with it.The good news is that in the process the UFC has picked up real solid fans so the sport will continue to do well but it will not be the largest most popular sport on earth. It will remain on the fringe of mainstream albeit past its peak.

So like, real mma is still thriving somewhere? Without tattoos and metal?

Biggest sport in the world?Yea, trashy metal, tattoos, douchy clothes and TUF tantrum throwing is going to make UFC's vision of MMA the biggest sport in the world...LOL, UFC's MMA is a fad, that is already declining.

MMA could very well pass all other sports...But not with Dana at the helm.

"Ya but hasn't it somewhat went backwards in the past few years? It seems there is less of a buzz, TUF ratings are down, and average PPV buys are down. Brazil seems to be popular for TUF Brazil and shows held there, but I guess I don't know how well they do as far as ratings for events held in the US or other countries. I agree it did completely explode for a few years though."I do not think so. It still is progressing. Now we have UFC, Bellator, WSOF and Axis tv fights all on t.v. We also have Invicta doing well with wmma. There are more shows being put on and the numbers may seem down, but I belive over all, the views between all the companies that the numbers are higher than they ever have been on average.

I also believe once the UFC settles into FS1 their numbers will increase like someone else mentioned. They are on too many stations for the last couple of years and it hurt them. They did great with Spike. Then they added shows on Versus and prelims on ion. This did not help with the casual viewer.
