Nick Newell vs. TBA
Several announcements were made during Friday's WSOF 3 on NBC.
Undefeated lightweight Nick Newell was introduced to a wide audience during the show, although no announcement was made about his opponent.
In a highly unusual move, it had previusly been announced that the event president would be fighting on the card he is promoting, and now his opponent has been named.
42 year old WSoF president Ray Sefo has what at first glance appears to be a modest 2-1 MMA record, and will be facing 20-5 Dave Huckaba. However, Sefo holds a 56-21-1 kickboxing record, and was the 2000 K-1 World Grand Prix 2000 runner-up.
In 2005 Sefo beat then 3-2, now 6-8 Min Soo Kim. In 2008, Sefo beat then 10-7 Kevin Jordan. Jordan would lose his next two, and has not fought since 2010. In 2011 Sefo lost to Valentijn Overeem by submission in the first round, via submission.
39 year old Huckaba has won 7 of his last 10, and is on a three fight win streak. Huckaba was schedule to fight Rolles Gracie on Friday's card, but Rolles dropped from the card with a wrist injury, moving Lyle Beerbohm vs. Jacob Volkmann from the prelims to the main card.
