Tonight on FOX Sports Live, UFC President Dana White joined the cast and announced that Lyoto Machida will indeed drop to middleweight and is scheduled to fight Tim Kennedy. The bout will take place on November 7th as part of the UFC's 3rd Fight for the Troops in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Machida was 11-4 in the UFC's lightheavyweight division and captured the UFC title in 2009 by defeating Rashad Evans. It rumored he was considering a drop to middleweight, going 4-4 since capturing the title, but long time friend Anderson Silva was the reigning champion. With Silva having lost his title and nearing the end of his career, it looks as though Machida will be looking to make a run at the middleweight title.
