Pettis popped knee, 'no sense' talking about next fight

by Chris Palmquist |

At the post-fight press conference for UFC 164, Dana White was asked what he would like to see next for Pettis, a bout with lightweight number one contender TJ Grant or a super fight with featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

White hesistated answering the question, and then informed the media that Anthony Pettis' knee popped during the fight so no determination could be made in regards to his next fight.

It was a slight knee injury that forced Pettis to withdraw from his UFC featherweight title bout, so it is possible the injury wasn't fully recovered despite Pettis taking the lightweight title shot three weeks after the featherweight bout he pulled out of.

It is likely Pettis will see a doctor after the post-fight conference and a orthopedic specialist later this week and more information will be available as to the new champion's future.

I hope its nothing serious and we can see Pettis around Jan/Feb. But if both were healthy imagine how insane a Pettis vs Aldo fight on Fox in Dec would be?  I know Aldo is out for the year and Pettis could be as well but that would have been insane.   Maybe Aldo/Pettis for the Superbowl show with Jones vs Glover?  That would be a nice card.

Pettis just reported that it was the opposite knee, not the one that was previously injured. Hope he has a good break and comes back healthy.

Hope Pettis is ok. He is a beast. I don't think Aldo wants any now.
