Josh Barnett aims to 'carve another headstone' vs. Travis Browne

Josh Barnett's last fight in the UFC was in August, where he took out Frank Mir in under two minutes. His UFC fight before that was 2002, when he beat Randy Couture for the UFC heavyweight championship. Barnett lost the title over a failed PED test; he now has his aim set on regaining the heavyweight title.

Standing in his way is Travis Browne; the pair fight at UFC 168 in Las Vegas, on December 28.

"The Warmaster" appeared on Friday's edition of AXS Television's 'Inside MMA' and discussed his plans for Browne.

"There is going to be at least 500 pounds in the ring," said Barnett. “It’s a big opportunity for me. This guy is an up-and-coming young buck. He wants to prove his name, he wants to show that beating a guy like Alistair Overeem was not just a flash in the pan. He’s gonna look to make his name off of me, and I’m gonna look to just carve another headstone.”

What do you think UG? Browne started fighting just in 2009. At 35 and with over 16 years ring and cage experience, does Barnett have what it takes to beat Browne, and if so, how do you think it will end?

After his last fight with Mir, I think WarMaster is going to show up to prove that he belongs in Title ranking in the ufc. Bandwagon fans may have only seen Barnett fight that one time, and Barnett knows this and with his ability to sell the crowd... I think we are going to see the Best Josh Barnett Ever!!!!!!!!!

I am rooting for Barnett, but it would not shock me to see Browne winning this.

I think Browne is a good deal faster than Barnett and that might play a role in this fight.

Chris is back less than a day and already at it again. Well, it was a good two weeks while he was honeymooning. I have fixed his egregious error.

People are easily deceived by Cormier and his pudgy gut. Let's not forget he's a Olympic athlete. I love Browne but Cormier is the better athlete off merits alone.

Barnett has the better hands, better clinch work and better ground. Brownes strength is keeping his opponents at the end of his strikes and landing pot shots. Barnetts footwork and defensive head movement and parrying will negate that. Browne will end up on his back tapping to a...lets go with the Brock Larson special on this one. Keylock ftw
