Gustafsson will get next title shot with a win

Alexander Gustafsson gave Jon Jones the toughest title fight of his UFC career and and arguement could be made that Gustafsson may have done enough to win. The judges disagreed and Gustafsson didn't complain, but now it looks like all he has to do is win one more fight to get another title shot:

"Obviously he's got to win, but yeah, he's fighting (Jones) next. 100-percent, that's the next fight," White told on Monday.

On Monday's edition of The MMA Hour, Gustafsson said that an immediate rematch was a "done deal" in his mind, but now that he must wait, he hopes Jones defeats Glover Teixeira in March 2014.

The UFC President didn't however reveal who Gustafsson's next opponent might be, but it is likely to be another top contender in the light heavyweight division.

Silverback Gorilla Monsoon - One clean punch? That's all it takes in MMA, friend (though I agree that Jones should handle Glover).

I think they'll make the Gus vs Gegard fight that we missed out on last time around. Davis is in the mix too but Cormier? Let's see if he can A. beat Roy and B. even make 205. If he gets an immediate shot at 205 and has a bad cut Jon will demolish him. Being physically drained following a rough cut and fighting JBJ 24 hours later is a recipe for disaster, in my opinion.

True, but he doesn't have the speed nor the footwork that Gustafsson has, how is he going to get inside of Jones's range?

Gegard is hurt. On top of that he has only fought a late replacement, I would like to see him fight a top-ten/top five opponent at 205 before he fights a for a potential titleshot.

Don't have to be a rough cut if he does it correctly, he's been at it a while now, dieting, so if he's around 225-230 after the Roy fight there shouldn't be a problem, that's the standard weight for a pre fight LHW.

If Cormier beats Roy Nelson I would like to see him cut to 205 and fight Gus... the winner gets Jones...thoughts?

Could do Alex vs winner of Rashad/Chael, Lil Nog or Phil Davis. Seem to be the only top guys that would available around that time.
