TUF 18, Episode 7 results & recap

Tonight's episode of the Ultimate Fighter: Rousey vs. Tate featured the third elimination match in the men's bracket as Josh Hill took on Michael Wooten:

Round 1 – Hill quickly shoots for a takedown and gets Wootten's back up against the cage. Hill has a body lock but struggles to take the fight to the ground. He switches to a double leg, picks Wootten up off the ground, walks across the cage and slams the Brit on his back. Wootten attempts a guillotine choke from the bottom, but Hill escapes. Wootten gives up his back, and Hill begins to work for a rear-naked choke. Hill briefly secures the choke but Wootten peels off the hands and escapes. Wootten stands up, and Hill again presses him against the cage. Wootten throws knees and elbows but fails to land anything significant. Referee Herb Dean breaks the action to return Hill's mouthpiece, which fell out during an earlier exchange. Hill continues to work for a single leg takedown and occasionally breaks to throw strikes. Wootten reverses the position, and the round ends with both men throwing strikes against the cage.

Round 2 – Wootten presses forward with a leaping right knee that lands flush on Hill's chin. Hill is down but grabs one of his opponent's legs and manages to return to a standing position. Wootten takes Hill down with a double leg. Hill attempts a kimura but Wootten escapes. Wootten throws punches and elbows from the guard with Hill's head pinned against the cage. Hill escapes to his feet and presses Wootten against the fence. Wootten breaks away from the position and throws a front kick that grazes the face of Hill. Wootten shoots for a double-leg takedown that is stuffed. Hill then grabs the neck and drops for a guillotine choke, but Wootten escapes. The Englishman fires with strikes from the guard, forcing Hill to give up his back. Hill reverses position and is now in Wootten's guard throwing strikes. Hill ends the round on top.

The judges declare the fight a draw after two rounds, and a third "sudden-victory" round will take place to determine a winner.

Round 3 – Hill opens the round with a spinning backfist that misses. Wootten is unsuccessful on another takedown attempt but gets Hill against the cage. Both men throw strikes from the clinch position, and Hill then gets Wootten's back to the cage. After several more reversals of position, Hill establishes control. Wootten breaks the position, and the fighters are at striking range. Hill attempts a wild spinning backfist and falls to the ground. Wootten jumps in the guard, where he throws strikes. Wootten closes the round with an onslaught of ground strikes that nearly finish Hill before the final bell rings.

Michael Wootten def. Josh Hill via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

I agree with what you are saying, I was just playing devil's advocate for a minute.I think we are the last two on this thread. So, cheers to you for gutting it out with me.

I think you're reading too much into it. I doubt white is even very connected to what's going on. Also if they wanted to recut stuff there's no reason they would create a whole new episode to give them extra time to edit other episodes. It doesn't make sense since editing would take less time than creating a new episode out of left over footage.Every season they do the same thing, they paint on coach as a villain and the other as a hero. Then at some point they do a switch and start showing the negative side of one and try to play up the positive of another. This new no-prank think has more to do with the change in direction for the show overall. Last season had much less hijinks in the house as well and was much more documentary like.

It definitely wasn't the thanksgiving promo. The announcer said in two weeks, the last two first round fights would happen. We are getting a weird mid-show recap.Maybe, just maybe, the editing team is re-editing the remaining episodes since everyone has turned on Ronda. They have to win her back some fans. There hasn't been a season where a coach became so vilified, or where Dana stopped the pranks. This is just weird. I'll ask again, has there been a mid-season recap show ever before?

I doubt it. In the scrum he says the recap episode was made for thanksgiving week and they may have run the wrong promo.

Yeah I said it wasn't a big deal in the post you quoted. I was pointing out that suggesting the fact that the guy was Armenia had nothing to do with it is stupid. So what exactly makes me a dumb fuck? Did you actually read my post?

Not at all I just think its not that serious, didn't people urinate in water bottles in one of the first seasons or something crazy worse than this unibrow garbage.

This is pure speculation, but is there a possibility that they needed a recap episode to replace an episode with a bunch of footage that was not salvagable due to some sort of incident that UFC isn't proud of? The whole season seems to have a weird tone that something is under the surface that I can't quite put my finger on. I repeat, this is pure speculation.

The spinning back fists were bullshit. Ronda's claim that the picture was racist was bullshit. And next weeks recap show will be utter bullshit. On a more positive note, I thought similarly to most of this season the fight was very entertaining. Quote of the season has to be "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR EATING BISCUITS FOR BREAKFAST" and a close second from Holdsworth "Little hot tub time machine action".
