White: The governor needs to step in

When Bruce Buffer announced the decision for the UFC main event title fight decision between welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks, the entire UG waited for the words "still" of "new." When GSP retained his title, a good percentage of the forum were at once incredulous and furious. Among this expressing an identical sentiment were UFC president Dana White.

The scoring actually broke down almost entirely uniformly. Almost. Only the first round is in dispute, and that made all the difference.

Johny Hendricks won," said White following the event. “I only gave Georges St-Pierre the third round. Nevada is a very scary place. This is the worse commission on the planet. I’m afraid to bring fights to Las Vegas. This is the thing that makes people not like fights. I’m still so blown away by it. Georges knew he lost. His corner knew he lost. Hendricks knew he won. These people are despicably horrible. This city is scary.”

“The governor needs to step in and fix the incompetence that is happening in the state of Nevada that used to be the best commission in the world. It’s absolutely, 100 percent incompetence, and it needs to stop.”

“Does anybody here think that Johny Hendricks didn’t win the fight? I’m blown away that Georges St-Pierre won that fight. And listen, I’m a promoter. He’s the biggest pay-per-view star on the f---ing planet for me, and I still don’t think he won that fight.

“I want what’s fair, and that wasn’t fair. I think the Nevada State Athletic Commission is atrocious. I think the governor needs to step in immediately before these guys destroy the sport like they did boxing.”

“I should be, ‘Whoo-hoo! These idiots gave it to Georges.’ But it’s not fair, it’s not right, it’s not the way things work. It’s not the way they should work. At the end of the day, we put on a fight with two of the best guys in the world, and whoever wins, wins.”

"What more can I do? Obviously when there's a huge boxing fight and they f--- up, holy s---, the world stops and we gotta fix this thing. Pacquiao lost that fight and it almost happened to Mayweather in a fight he clearly won. You know? I just don't know what else needs to be done. Its unfortunate."

"We have a great relationship with the MGM, we have a great relationship with Mandalay Bay, this is our hometown, this is where we live, and our athletic commission is the weakest commission in the country. When you start looking at next year's schedule, how many events do you want to do in Vegas?"

"The governor needs to step in and fix the incompetence that is happening in the state of Nevada" - Dana White. Maybe the governor does need to step in but to say he does based on the GSP vs Hendricks decision is "incompetence". Could of gone either way, after watching more then once you'd have to be stupid or blind not to think so.

Close fight, I thought Hendricks took it but not shocked at the split decision. Same story as always- don't leave it in the judges hands, and that goes double when you are fighting a respected champ who knows how to score points.

i wish the Governor does step in. There has to be a way to stop one bad decision after another. For the life of me I don't know what fight those judges were watching. When the decision was read, the bar I was in erupted in a combination of shock and 'what?'. They seriously need to fix the terrible MMA judging. It affects morale.

GSP had a takedown and a near submission. Hendricks wobbled GSP on the feet and had a takedown. Besides that, they landed a comparable number of strikes, with Hendricks landing more punches and GSP mixing in punches and kicks. What your face looks like is not a judging criteria. GSP often looks lumped up, even in fights he clearly wins.

Here is a good article by Bleacher Report GSP vs Hendricks: breaking down the fightmetric numbershttp://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1853770-georges-st-pierre-vs-johny-hendricks-breaking-down-the-fightmetric-numbersThis makes sense to me. I personally felt like the fight could have gone either way in the ten point must system and thought it might even be scored a draw. Rounds 3 and 5 were the champ's and 2 and 4 were Johny's for sure. Round 1 was very tough to score...but dont forget that GSP had Johny in some trouble right at the start with a takedown and guillotine choke (There even looked like a phantom tap might have occurred).Definitely NOT a robbery in this scoring system. If you scored on the basis of who got beat up more then Hendricks gets the nod...but thats not how mma fights are scored. That said...if a razor close fight is going to go to anybody Im happy its going to the guy who DIDNT DUCK THE PED TESTING.
