Jon Jones: My body is not ready for a fight camp

Jon Jones was originally planned to defend his title in February; even the UFC announced the bout. Jones however was not as healthy as expected, and the bout was move. Today Jones explained his current situation and how he feels:

The 26-year-old suffered a large laceration above his right eye early in the fight with “The Mauler,” and he also aggravated the toe injury he gruesomely suffered against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 earlier this year.

Several months later, those injuries are still lingering for the champion, which is why he didn’t feel comfortable accepting a fight at either February event.

“My eye is definitely not ready to be punched,” Jones said. “I’m afraid that it could reopen, which would make scarring terrible and prolong the whole thing even more. My foot is definitely not ready to go yet. I wake up to step off the bed, and it’s cracking and crackling and stuff. I’m just not ready for the training camp.”

If your eye can't handle it, then give it up. - JH

Meh....it was a great fight and they beat each other up, but people completely overexaggerate over how Jones got completly smashed or his face mangled and act like Gus was fine.  Below is right after the fight.  Jones had a nice cut over his eye and a pretty damn fat lip, but that much is expected after a 25 minute war.  People like to bring up the hospital pic but keep in mind, Gus was right there in the hospital with him.  It's not like Gus went over to spend time with Jones :)

Haha...Ok.  I guess I should have simplified this question too.  I don't care what MM did in smaller organizations.  How about this.  The LHW belt has been defended 7 times since February of 2011 because of Jon Jones.  Prior to becoming champ he was very active too.  To compare..... 135 belt:  5 times (including Barao's interim defense) 145 belt:  5 times 155 belt:  7 times (between Frankie and Benson) 170 belt:  4 times 185 belt:  5 times 205 belt:  7 times (All Jones) HW belt:  5 times (Cain and JDS)

How's a 13er calling out a 13er? How's that work?

OK corky.... I see you weren't smart enough to pick up the point of that post.  Fact of the matter is that damage doesn't always equal who won.  For example, Jones was hurt in the Chael fight.  He hurt his toe bad, needed surgery, and couldn't train or fight.  However, Jones beat Chael and finished him in the first round.  Hope that was slow enough for you. And LOL at the way you've built the Jones/Gustaffson fight up in your baby brains.  It was a great fight between 2 warriors.  It's just that Gus came up a bit short, and everyone who is unbiased knew it.  There is a reason 14/15 major media sites and ALL 3 judges gave it to Jones.

His injury against Chael was a freak accident. His injury against Gus was a pounding dished out by the Viking

Do you think he beat Chael decisevely? Do you think he was able to train/fight immediately afterwards?
