White: Diaz turned down Condit rematch

Following the news that St-Pierre would vacate the title, the welterweight landscape was immediately changed. It was announced that Johny Hendricks is going to face Robbie Lawler to determine a new champion and Dana White had plans to create a number one contender the same night, but Nick Diaz wasn't interested:

Following the conclusion of UFC on Fox 9, White joined the post-show and was asked what the promotion planned to do with Condit. White says that he spoke with Diaz backstage and discussed a possible rematch, but Diaz turned down the bout. Diaz was open to eventually returning, perhaps in May.

"I was going to do Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz. I met with Nick Diaz in the back here and he doen't want the fight," said White. "He said he doesn't want the fight and isn't thinking about coming back, but [he said] maybe he will come back in May."

It does get bigger than the #1 contender fight. And that's the title fight lol Nick Diaz and GSP did what? 1.2 million buys? Hendricks did what 650k buys? Diaz chased condit around the whole fight. I don't think he cares to play chase in the cage again with a guy who's coming off 2 losses. IMO he's playing the hard to get card and is going to get a crazy pay day when the time comes.

Nick must really be retired. It's a safe bet that the winner of this fight would fight Hendricks/Lawler winner for the title.Either that or Nick really is ducking, and is hoping to go straight to a title fight in a more favorable stylistic matchup with Lawler or Hendricks."You really think he'd be scared to fight a guy like Jay, but have no problems fighting a guy like Daley that could have taken his head off?"Well, Jay is a wrestler, and Nick has complained throughout his career of losing decisions to guys who just wanted to hold him down and not fight; so yes, it's pretty obvious that he'd be more reluctant to fight Jay than to fight a stand-and-banger like Daley.

Diaz actually said that he would've finished the armbar but he thought he was ahead on points, still got reversed in the end. Point fighting 101

It was a 5 round decision. And I'm only saying that because everybody talks about the little that Condit did, forgetting to mention that Diaz did literally almost NOTHING. He didn't even try to win until the end of the fifth round.

Lol at asking someone to sit there and count how many strikes were thrown in a 3 round decision.

LOL at you following Fight Metric. Actually watch the fight and tell me how many strikes he threw. He did nothing in that fight besides slap Condit a couple times.

117 total strikes 105 significant strikes according to fight metric. Don't remember him giving the finger once. Maybe you're thinking of Nate Diaz vs Ben Henderson. You fail.

Just out of curiosity, how many strikes did Diaz throw in that fight, not including hand waves or middle fingers?

Its still there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJdN_j-Q3z0Looks like the judges got that one right. Suppose they were right when Jones beat gus too. Oh yeah, don't forget they were 100% correct when GSP beat Hendricks.
