Jose Aldo retains title, defeats Lamas by decision


The UFC 169 co-main event featured Jose Aldo defending his featherweight championship against number one contender Ricardo Lamas.

Jose Aldo did it again. The UFC featherweight champ spent the first four rounds outclassing challenger Ricardo Lamas, then settled for surviving the fifth, resulting in a clear-cut unanimous decision victory (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) for the 145-pound titleholder.

The featherweight title bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC 169 event at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Refs need to have a talk and be more consistent. Dude was slapping Aldo's hands and feet away from the cage that last round, and in the Mir fight the ref was just letting him grab the cage as much as he wanted; never ever made a move to stop him from doing it.

Yeah, sans the 5th round fading he kind of exudes the GSP effect, though I think mastery of the stand up game is more impressive and entertaining than take down mastery.

I love watching Aldo, but he is so good I could see it being boring to the average joe
