DFW to Diaz: No you are not released from your contract

Late last month UFC lightweight Nate Diaz tweeted that he wanted out of his UFC contract.

"@danawhite I would like to request to be released from the @ufc," tweeted Diaz. "Its time for me to be on my way .."

The move came after teammate Gilbert Melendez cut an unprecedented deal with the UFC, and being wooed by rival Bellator.

In any case, UFC president Dana White said flatly that it is not happening.

“He hasn’t called me,” said White said following the UFN 37 weigh-ins in London. “Is that how we do these things? You tweet? The answer would be no."

“He just signed a new contract that he was happy with a month ago. That’s definitely not controversial for the Diaz brothers – that’s called normal. I’ve got 500 guys under contract, and there’s always something. Every day when I wake up, there’s something.”

Part of Melendez's new contract was appearing as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 20, and both Nate and brother Nick as slated to appear as guest coaches.

“I can’t wait. I can’t wait,” said White. “The crazy thing about this this is, I actually like the Diaz brothers. Are they nutty as hell? Yes they are. But I like both of them, and they’re fun to watch fight.”

I wonder if all of the people who called Bjorn a scumbag for matching the UFC's offer to Alvarez will be equally vocal about this...

It is just a lot of people are trying to convince us that Diaz actually beat Condit, and that the records were fabricated to strengthen the Illuminati hold on the UFC.

Yeah, if you're arguing about it with yourself or another delusional 209er.... but anyone with a lick of sense knows Carlos did indeed win that fight, rather convincingly, and would most likely do so even more convincingly in a rematch. The plodding straight back and forth Stockton Shuffle worked great when he was the big fish in the small pond, but that silly shit just isn't gonna cut it nowadays, especially not in the UFC WW or MW divisions. What's sad is that Nicks chin isn't gonna hold up a whole lot longer, at which point it won't matter if he finally decides to go back to using all his skills and fights to his true ability. Nick had the skill and the perfect opportunity to finish out his career at or near the top of his division in the #1 promotion in the world. Instead, he'll be forever known to so many people as the guy who ruled the lesser promotions against low or unranked opponents, who couldn't get the job done when it mattered against fighters that mattered.
