Ivan Menjivar released by the UFC

Bantamweight Ivan Menjivar, 31, now joins Melvin Guillard in the latest group of fighters to be released by the UFC.

A veteran of some 14 years in the sport, Menjivar lost four of his last five fights in the UFC.

Menjivar's manager, Mitch Mayberger, told MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani  that "The Pride of El Salvador" will keep fighting.

"I will be feeling out offers and discussing with Ivan and his head coach Firas Zahabi and doing whatever works best for him," said Mayberger.

"He is a gem of a human being and been a pleasure to work with so I will always be by his side to help accomplish any goals he has. Love the guy."

This cut is WAY more understandable than Guillard. Menjivar has lost 4 of his last 5 and the 1 win was against a nobody. Plus he'd moved up to 145 where he's not as relevant.Guillard on the other hand came into the MJ fight off of a KO win over Danzig and an NC against Pearson where he got totally robbed of a clean win.

I like Menjivar but it's almost impossible to lose three in a row and keep your job in this era.
