Davis: Why not call it the Ultimate Jon Jones Fighting Championship?

UFC Light Heavyweight Rankings
Champion : Jon Jones
1. Alexander Gustafsson
2. Glover Teixeira
3. Rashad Evans
4. Phil Davis
5. Daniel Cormier

When Phil Davis beat Lyoto Machida, he vaulted into the top 5 contenders, and hoped for another top 5 contender, with of course an eye to a title shot. Instead he got a returning Anthony Johnson.

"He's not the guy I wanted," said Davis. "But pretty much everyone else was booked, so it wasn't a huge surprise, but it was like, I'll take it at this point."

However, UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones had some match making ideas of his own.

When Alexander Gustafsson beat Jimmy Manuwa at UFN 27 in London, UFC president Dana White announced that "The Mauler" would get the next shot at the winner of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones vs. challenger Glover Teixeira at UFC 172 in April.

Gustafsson said he thought it was Jones he would be fighting, but Jones says he thinks Gustafsson needs one more fight first, vs. Daniel Cormier.

"Why not give the winner of Alexander and DC the winner of myself and Glover??" asked Jones on Twitter. "Call me what you want but I can't be the only person who thinks that makes perfect sense. I see DC congratulating Alexander and making comments about waiting his turn now. I wonder if they're afraid to fight each other? People who don't like to think are quick to call me afraid. Think about it, I'm asking for the meanest of the two would you face winner of Phil vs Anthony?"

In an interview with Sportsnet Canada, Davis took issue with Jones' match making prescription.

"Why not get him a job? Throw him on payroll," said Davis as transcribed by MMAFighting. "See what he can really do with the lightweights. He seems to match make so well. I don't know. I feel bad for him, but he put himself into an interesting predicament. 'Why not just have a light heavyweight tournament and have the winner fight Jon Jones?' That's pretty much what he's saying. 'You guys should have a tournament.' Call it 'The Ultimate Jon Jones Fighting Championship.'"

With Weidman pulling out and that card sucking balls; why not have a one night Jon Jones tournament. He fights Davis, Glover, Gus and Rumble all in one night with maybe live music in between each fight to allow him to rest.

Obviously the best thing to do is to put the LHW division on hold while all the contenders and pretenders stand in line to face Jon Jones.Seriously, what the fuck? These guys are fucking petrified that they're going to lose (and then lose their supposed title fight), so they don't want to fight at all. There was a reason there is a term "gatekeeper" in fighting sports.Jon Jones won the title. It's his to defend. IF he doesn't feel you are worthy yet, then go prove it. Go dominate a few guys. These guys are afraid to fight each other but all think they can beat Jones. That's because a title fight loss means more money than a non-title fight loss.

You guys act like he's actually avoiding fights.Who cares if he gives his opinions? UFC already said Gus will get next shot so why does it matter that Jones thinks that Gus/Cormier should fight each other??

Didn't JBJ think Gus was gonna beat DC?Wouldn't that mean he would want to fight Gus again?Who is he running from? Can't he state his opinion like others?DC might be the only one to pose a threat to him. Gus wouldn't imo.Phil? Phil who? He gonna do nothing but get elbowed into submission.

Yeah!Sick of this wuss Jon Jones whining about every opponent and avoiding every tough fighter they try to pair him up with. You ain't ever gonna win a belt that way, homie. Look at his shameful record: dude avoids Rampage, avoids Machida, avoids Evans, avoids Gus, avoids Vitor, avoids Dan (lucky for that ducker Jones Dan got injured!), and now look at him running from Teixeira. Granted, every LHW has been running from Glover, but stll, Jone's is SUPPOSED to be the 'champ' so you'd think he'd have the nads to sign on the dotted line. I mean, has baby Bones fought even a single dangerous opponent? Who has he ever even dominated? Before you decide to open your trap, Mr. Jon Jones, try fighting (and maybe even finishing!) a real badass, someone like Machida, or Shogun, or Vitor, or Rampage. Go EARN your respect and your right to comment on possible opponents. While your at it, why don't you look around at the greats like Anderson. Ever seen him attempt to pick and choose opponents? HELL NO! When you actually grow a pair big enough to face an accomplished killer like Phil 'Death' Davis, THEN you might have some credibility. Until then, listen and learn. Or better yet, stop running long enough to actually fight instead of pose.Jones is UNREAL.

Eventually, Lorenzo, Dana, and/or Joe Silva needs to tell JBJ to "stfu and fight whoever we tell you to"
