Fight Church trailer: Can you love your neighbor, and knee his face?

Academy Award Winning Director Daniel Junge and director Bryan Storkel team up with producers Eben Kostbar and Joseph McKelheer (The Hammer) for a feature documentary about the confluence of Christianity and mixed martial arts.

Fight Church premieres April 24 at the Independent Film Festival of Boston. The startling trailer includes the following:
“When Preston came up with the idea of having a fight club in the church, it was an easy thing to say yes to.”
“Tough guys need Jesus, too.”
“We’ll just be a couple of God-fearing men punching each other in the head.”
“Jesus never tapped out.”
“Can you love your neighbor as much as yourself and then knee him in the face as hard as you can?”

With appearances by Jon Jones and Benson Henderson.

I think its pretty clear the documentary is about a predominately white fight church... I assume they got a couple big name Christian fighters to help them to get exposure with their teaser. Im sure the majority of Bones/Henderson's role in the film is what you see in the teaser.

I haven't the slightest idea, but you gotta admit that's a hilarious statement.

How much total time do you estimate Jones/Henderson will be in the documentary?

Nothing wrong with this. I go to a fight church where lil heathen turned his life around. I found it by searching to watch a UFC somewhere, and was happy to see I didn't need to find a bar to watch it at.The idea is great. It's in every man to compete, it's a job. Some are called to do that, some are called to fix toilets, ect..More often than not, in every sport, you see triumph, and then hear "first of all I'd like to thank God/Jesus".This is neither new, nor should it be upsetting.Eees normal.

LOL that's what came to my mind also, just looking at the thread title.

A bunch of Christian white rednecks, featuring Jon Jones and Benson Henderson.  Heh.

I see MMA as a sport. So I see no difference in the case of a couple churches having basketball teams that play against eachother. I think the intent is that it is designed to bring Christian friends closer together by participating in a sport together. It also gives the opportunity for Christians to invite some folks who either are not believers or are not strong believers to come participate in the sport and be introduced into a Christian fellowship.

I have an image in my head now, someone clinching and kneeing his neighbor to the head while tears streaming down on his face, saying "I only do this because I love you" and "This hurts me more than it hurts you"

Why the hate? This movie is perfect for us. We all love MMA. Some people here believe in Jesus, so it will have their two favorite things. Other people here don't believe in Jesus, and for them they will see a bunch of Christian white rednecks acting exactly how most nonbelievers would want to see them portrayed. This will be perfect for believers and nonbelievers, it will have exactly what both sides want to see.
