Dana White said he wanted to make Nick Diaz vs. Hector Lombard. Diaz liked the fight, “but then I never heard from him again."
UFC President Dana White said today that former Strikeforce welterweight champion and former UFC title contender Nick Diaz has been offered another fight, this time against former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard.
Diaz wants a title shot, but is coming off losses to both Carlos Condit and Georges St-Pierre, in a stacked division. Thus it is extraordinarily unlikely he secures one if/when he returns to the cage.
However, with Lombard's win having led to the release of Diaz teammate Jake Shields, the offered fight has a built in grudge match angle, with the possibility of a title shot if he comes out on top.
