Alexander Shlemenko calls out Tito Ortiz, who accepts

Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko called out former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz, in English and Russian, and wants to fight him on PPV.

Tito Ortiz, you say you want to fight May 17 on Bellator’s pay-per-view," said Shlemenko. "I will fight you. I will beat you. Tito, I respect you. But I must beat you because I’m champion.

“I know that Tito Ortiz is in a different weight class. I know that Tito Ortiz is a light heavyweight. This is no problem for me. … Bjorn, make this fight for me because I am champion. I’m the best. I will make a good fight – ‘Fight of the Night.’”

The Russian language portion of the highly-emotional call out was translated by top UG experts.

"I'm a fighter from Russia," said Shlemenko. "I fight all my life and I never lose. soon I fight Tito Ortiz, and the world will see his defeat. Soon, the whole world will know my name."

Ortiz has accepted the challenge.

Fighters call each out and it is good for business, but raising children right is what make the world go round. And in good news, Ortiz, who is by every account a tremendous father to his twins sons, reported via Twitter that his ex Jenna Jameson failed to appear in court, and that he was awarded "everything."

I guess great things come in three. 1.I get full custody of my Boyz 2.I get cleared the fight 3.The Champ calls me out. 2day was a good day!

Hoping and praying all the Tito fanboys bet heavy on him so I can get good odds on Shlemenko.

Whhhhaaaa? You mean everything put out by promoters isn't live and off the cuff? What's next, you going to tell me that pro wrestling has predetermined outcomes? Get out of here with your conspiracy garbage.

OMG did you see the interview/staredown during the show tonite? God that was cringe-worthy. I really hate when they force that crap and make it look like WWE.

Probably. Also likely that Shlemenko could have requested the fight over the phone or something and they decided to make the video to draw attention to the fight. MMA has a tiny following, these guys can use all the help they can get.

That fight was agreed to before that video was made.

Vote up for your prediction. Now we just need for Tito to fulfill my American flag trunk prediction. Oh, and walking out to "Real American" would also be a nice touch.

Yeah, even though Cooper or Rogers would be more competitive opponents, Shlemenko can get a lot more recognition for beating Tito just because his name is Tito Ortiz.

Unfortunately MMA is still a sport where the names on your resume are more important than the relevance of those names when they got put on your resume. So the answer is yes.

I wonder if he's angling for a spot on the ppv?
