White: I'm 'very confident' Carano will come back

For the past several weeks rumors have been circulating that Gina Carano is considering a return to MMA. Carano herself admitted in a late night interview that she was considering it, but not only that, had a meeting scheduled with UFC President Dana White. That meeting was a week ago, and until know, nobody knew how it went:

White said that he is "very confident" that Carano is going to fight in the UFC octagon but that they have not signed a deal yet.

"Gina [Carano] and I had a good meeting. I'm very confident that she does want to come back and she does want to fight. We do not have a deal but we might [soon]."

Oooof, gets me excited! Would not want to see the Rousey match, at least not as her first fight. Tate on the other hand...

This fight would only make sense if Gina came back and DEFEATED Rousey. But she is going to get stomped, and rather easily by Ronda. So, after 1 minute, everyone will be wondering what kind of joke this was.

Either he offered Gina enough money, or he didn't. She didn't sign so he didn't, the rest is noise.

Why? Zero interest here. Carano had her place in V1 of WMMA but is beyond irrelevant as a fighter. As a personality sure, but to have her fight Ronda is such a huge stretch. It seems super desparate, much like them dying for a Euro Champ in any weight class.

Seems like if you want to take MMA serious and consider it a sport you have to ignore the UFC.Does anyone really thing Gina stands a chance? The same woman that can't keep her weigh down long enough to film a movie, this is who we're suppose to believe will beat Rhonda? Brand name cans.

The UFC is throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. Carano could boost ratings and or pay per view numbers, so it's worth considering. Giving her an immediate title shot would be ludicrous, but more ludicrous than Ortiz vs Shamrock 3? From a sporting standpoint I'd rather see them sign Cyborg, but Carano is the smarter business decision.
