UFC planning Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson in Japan

Ariel Helwani, who has more inside information than Varys, said on UFC Tonight that the UFC is targeting Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson for a September show in Japan.

"I'm told the UFC wants to do Roy Nelson vs. Mark Hunt," said Helwani. "The fans would love this. We'll have to wait to see how Roy's hand heals after surgery. If all goes well, maybe they'll fight on the show September 20 in Japan."

Both fighters are extraordinarily durable, and both hit ferociously hard. In fact, both fighters hit their opponent so hard in their last fight that they ended up with a broken hand.

Expect something to break.

Every UFC used to cater to the American audience. Now they are actively trying to build an international following outside of US, Canada and Brazil. I think the ulimate goal is to build regional stars with a regional ranking system, and have top regional guys fight each other for a chance to fight for the UFC belt.  FightPass is pretty solid and a great concept. FOX might not want to pay for premium content that is going to air at 2 am in the US. You never have to miss a fight with FightPass.  I get where you're coming from, I cancelled cable because I could no longer justify paying $150 a month for 500 channels when I only watch three. I can't watch the FS1&2 events at home so i miss many of them. Oh well, I'd rather have an extra $1200 a year to play with which makes buying PPVs a much easier decision. I'd rather see everything go fight pass.  FP is great for fighters, it gives them exposure in markets where there is not a TV deal or otherwise would not have been shown and give the UFC more leverage with broadcasting partners to negiotiate better deals which can mean more money for fighters.

This fight will dissapoint. People seem to forget Roy is great on the ground, and Hunt not so much. Nelson wont swing with him, he'll take him down and submit him easily.   - McKorckle
