Aldo: We will get payback on Team Alpha Male

Team Alpha Male won its first UFC championship at UFC 173, when T.J. Dillashaw beat Renan Barao. The next day the team's official Instagram impishly posted an image mocking Barao.

The team then took the above down, and replaced with with another, but nothing disappears on the Net once it is public.

In an interview with Brazilian radio show No Mundo da Luta, Barao's Nova Uniao teammate Jose Aldo expressed his feelings on the jibe.

"By their logic, how many times would we have to sign Urijah Faber in an MMA seminar at Nova Uniao?" said Aldo as transcribed by Guilherme Cruz for MMAFighting.

"It was lack of respect. We always defeat them, Faber always lost to us and we never did that. We always respected them. We always tried to help them, like when they came here to the gym. We never disrespected them. But it’s cool. Let’s be patient, we will meet again. I have a fight coming up with Chad, and Barao, God willing, will fight Dillashaw again and we will get the payback."

Aldo also offered his opinion on why Barao lost.

"Renan was well prepared, and of course he knew that he was also well trained, but Dillashaw surprised him," said Aldo. "Barao could have been better physically, mentally, everything, but he didn’t expect the way Dillashaw fought."

"Let’s say Barao was more relaxed than the other fights, he thought he would get in there as the champion, throw a punch and get the knockout,. He didn’t have his feet on the ground, a good head."

"Two days before the fight, Dana White said Barao was the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, that he could knock out every fighter, and maybe that made him underestimate Dillashaw, who got there humbly and showed how things work."

Mendes heard what Aldo said, and took offense, via Twitter.

What do you mean, "nothing he has said".....everything hes saying are words that could conceivably come from a guy who destroyed his opponent in the first matchup. Literally, the opposite of what you are saying.

Mendes also got Aldo down after the fence grab but Aldo got right back up and then got the KO. Mendes was too green then and that was kinda like Gomi pre-Fire Ball Kid. Mendes' hands only appeared after that loss. He wasnt gonna win that time around. He wasnt finishing lesser guys on the ground and his standup was not near what it was then. This time it should be competitive but Mendes had little for Aldo that night.

"And the first fight wasn't domination by Aldo until he landed the knee. Definitive win that happened after a blatant cage grab that may have changed the course of the fight. Hard to deny it's not possible when the takedown could have les to the fight going past round 1. Who knows."The fuck are you talking about? Aldo stuffed his takedowns multiple times in the center of the octagon before that, Mendes looked outclassed and so scared he was shooting from across the cage. What exactly could have happened if he had gotten the takedown with very little time left in the round? Instant TKO? Instant sub? Was Aldo gonna mentally fold because he got taken down fucking once? These excuses are almost as bad as when the brazilians make their own. Mendes got knocked the fuck out, maybe he wins this time who knows but this whole "he grabbed the cage, it doesnt count" is silly, he showed nothing before that to make anyone except former high school wrestlers think he was gonna win the next 4 rounds

Fuck everybody here who bitches about excuses and class. The same type of people who don't want celebrations in football. This is the fight game. The hurt game. Aldo is standing up for his close training partner who got hurt. And nobody was picking tj to win. How unrealistic is it to think the talk went to barao's head and once he got popped in the first round it was too late. Buncha pussies around here.

^^ Seminar picture wasn't posted by the champ or even the team alpha male's instagram. It was posted on the instagram for the gym. Relax lol. Team alpha male may not have even had anything to do with it. Could have just been someone in the gym messing around and then when TAM found out, they crossed it out. I still find it hilarious that people are getting so worked up about the seminar thing.

If you think that quote is over the line, then surely every fighter and camp are pieces of shit because of the shit that was said before the fight? Literally EVERY single fight has both guys saying shit like this. And THIS is the one that crosses the line? GTFO. Plenty of people have said the same or similar shit in the past. Has anybody ever apologized after a fight for the shit they said before the fight? NO because everyone knows it's all promotion and necessary to generate interest and motivate the fighter. Posting a picture like that AFTER the fight is a completely classless move. When's the last time you saw a champ (or champs fight camp) trash a guy after he just destroyed him? I can't remember any. If you can't see the difference between what they did and what Barao said, I don't know what the fuck to tell you.

I dont think Baraos comments warrant the seminar pic IMO. He made an assessment of what he saw in fights. Putting up that pic after a tough loss was a much lower blow and definitely more classless. TJ would have been warranted to say something along the lines of "Guess my striking isnt too bad eh Barao?" Something along those lines. The pic was childish and I previously felt the guys on that team were better than that. Also, I definitely feel Chads comments were pretty tasteless about beating Aldo's ass. He could have phrased it better if he wanted to say something. You would think after getting outclassed in the previous match that he would conduct himself a little more humbly. Its whatever.....its the fight game. Thats to be expected. Im definitely rooting for Aldo in their match in Aug. I think TAM needs to get this loss. They arent handling winning very well.Jose spanked two of their team members and he was always a class act after the fact. Especially after the level of destruction of both of their guys. Uriah couldnt walk for a week and posted pics of his legs after. It was horrific looking. He had the ammunition to shit on them, but he didnt because hes got class. Personally, im a bigger fan of the classier guys.
