Tyron Woodley vowed to so dominate Rory MacDonald at UFC 174 earlier this month that the UFC had no alternative but to give him a title shot. Woodley lost in uninspiring fashion, but he has another, unexpected fight with title implications.
Hector Lombard suffered a cervical herniated disc pinching one of his nerves, and is out of his fight vs. Dong Hyun Kim on Aug 23 at UFC Fight Night “Bisping vs. Le."
The UFC sent out a bat signal, and Tyron Woodley responded.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement, via his social network.
Just let Dong Hyun Kim officially know that Lombard is out injured and Woodley is in for #ufcmacao #venetiansands #ufcchina #ufc
Kim, 32, is on a four-fight win streak, and a two-fight performance bonus streak, taking out John Hathaway with a spinning elbow in March and Erick Silva with strikes in October.
Hopefully the fight doesn't interfere with plans Woodley had to appear in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
"Man of Steel 2 I've got some calls about doing that," Woodley told FOX Sports earlier this month. So I would love to take advantage of that if the timeframe works out."
In any case, Woodley appears ready to change and grow.

According to Ariel Helwani, Lombard will be out a minimum of three months, and may require surgery.
