Mousasi not happy to hear of fight cancellation through social media

by Chris Palmquist |

Gegard Mousasi was scheduled to fight 'Jacare' Souza at UFC 176 on August 2nd. That event yesterday was canceled by the UFC and his fight was moved to September 5th at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Having his fight moved was upsetting enough, but it was how he learned of the move that made him lash out at his employer. The Facebook post has since been deleted, but it read: Gegard Mousasi: 'It's always nice to hear your fight is canceld through social media good job UFC'

Mousasi also later responded to a fan's question on Twitter about how he felt about the move:

@__MartinCZ__: How do you feel about your fight being rescheduled? Any word what card it'll be moved to? @mousasi_mma

@mousas_mma: 6 weeks training for nothing..that’s how I feel…

So that changes the fact that he spoke the truth? He said "it's always nice to hear your fight is cancelled through social media". I never said who's fault it was, but that statement is still true. Is sucks to hear it like that no matter whose fault it is.

"Mousasi's manager Nima Safapour reached out to MMAFighting's Ariel Helwani, and detailed the circumstances around the postponing of the fight. "Zuffa reached out to us in advance shortly before the media became aware that the event was postponed," said Safapour. "However, due to the time zone differences between Holland and Vegas, combined with how quickly the news hit the media, there was an honest miscommunication between the parties."
