BREAKING: Anderson Silva to return against Nick Diaz on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas. @danawhite just announced on @SportsCenter. WHOA!

UFC president Dana White appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter to announce the fight of the year. Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva will make his return fight vs. former Strikeforce and WEC welterweight champion Nick Diaz.

Silva is coming off a devastating leg break suffered during a fight with current UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 168 on December 28, 2013. Diaz is coming off an extended break from the sport, saying he would only be lured back by a title fight or $500,000. Although the Silva fight is not for a title, it may well be the biggest fight of the year. And as Diaz will be getting points on a PPV, the $500,000 appears to be well within reach.
