Gunner Nelson vs. Rick Story set to headline UFC Oct. 4th in Sweden

Gunnar Nelson is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC and now will headline his first event, squaring off against Rick Story October 4th in an event scheduled for Sweden:

Fresh off his big win over Zak Cummings at UFC Fight Night in Dublin on July 19, unbeaten welterweight phenom Gunnar Nelson will make his first headlining performance as a UFC fighter on Saturday, October 4, when he takes on American veteran Rick "The Horror" Story at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

“I am honored to fight in Sweden and to headline this card," Iceland's Nelson said. "I expect the Swedish crowd to be pretty loud. I believe I have a big fan base in Sweden. They love my kind of style of fighting and I am of course Scandinavian so we have a good connection. So overall I think it’s going to be a great night – I am really excited about this opportunity."

“I have fought in Germany before but it will be my first time in Stockholm, so I am looking forward to seeing the city," Story said. "My schedule now will be to pack up and head down to Arizona to the MMA Lab to start training. I’m really excited for this fight."

I really want to see him face a high level striker instead of yet another grappler.

"Kampmann and Pyle are similar to Nelson? really? I don't think so. Gunnar has a style all his own. I haven't seen enough of Gunnar to compare him to guys like Pyle or Kampmann."You know very well what i mean. They have technical striking and BJJ, like Nelson. Doesnt mean they fight exactly the sameIm gonna assume you werent saying every wrestler that has nullified BJJ fights exactly the same as Story? You were painting a broad description as was iSo dont be intellectually dishonest because you fear losing an e-argument

I specifically said that too many people are calling it a Gunnar win based on his loss to Maia. a loss that happened in under 1 minute and was a result of Maia's style, a style that is nothing like Gunnar's. Maia, a guy who has a track record of holding his own with wrestlers, a guy who came down from MW. We have yet to see Gunnar against top level wrestlers. I'm not calling a Rick Story win, this will be a tough test for him for sure.

Get your facts right, I never said wrestlers nullify BJJ "all the time". and I never discounted the Maia loss. Kampmann and Pyle are similar to Nelson? really? I don't think so. Gunnar has a style all his own. I haven't seen enough of Gunnar to compare him to guys like Pyle or Kampmann.

Gunnar is on Fightpass because he's popular in Europe, and European time zone fights end up on Fightpass. In fact 100% of his fights have been in Europe thus far. They're using him to bolster the EU MMA market.

"Kampmann and Pyle both are decently sized WW's, with Kampmann being a MW before he dropped down. Both are also tested veterans."Now you are grasping for straws. You made the claim that we see wrestlers nullify BJJ all the time and discounted the Maia loss. I gave you two more examples of Story failing to beat guys similar to Nelson (striking and BJJ)You have yet to give an example of Story nullifying BJJ. He doesnt, he always did best against other wrestlersDont be surprised if Story finds himself in yet another RNC, but against a guy like Nelson, he isnt getting out
