Baroni: ONE FC fans make you feel good, don’t rip us apart
Phil Baroni has competed in grappling tournaments in high school gyms, and all the way up to fighting in the UFC ten times, and for the Strikeforce title.
When he signed with ONE FC, his expectations were not high, but he never the less found himself in a first class show, broadcast to 28 Asian countries, in front of a profoundly appreciative live audience.
Friday Phil Baroni fights Nobutatsu Suzuki on the main-card of “ONE FC 9: Rise to Power,” live from the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines. ONE FC 9 streams via online pay-per-view.
“I didn’t feel like I took a step down,” Baroni told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I was still in a big show.”
“(They don’t) idolize us, but put us on a pedestal,” Baroni said of the Singapore fans, adding “and not just look to rip us apart. It makes you feel good about yourself. They definitely appreciate the fighters and the sport.”
“I always give my all. I don’t try to be politically correct; I just say how I feel. I think a lot of people like that. I’m a regular guy.”
