After a feeling out period, underdog Cung Le perfectly timed a wide kick-hook attack by former UFC Lightheavyweight champion Rich Franklin, and countered with a crushing right that closed the show with a bang.

A string of five decisions in a row was snapped by Thiago Silva vs. Stanislav Nedkov. It almost ended when Nedkov landed a brutal right, but Silva survived and ended it with an arm triangle, after Nedkov seemed to slow in the third, ending Nedkov’s formerly unbroken streak.

Dong Hyun Kim impressively controlled Paulo Thiago for fifteen minutes, earning a unanimous decision.

Takanori Gomi went back and forth with Mac Danzig, taking the narrowest of split decisions. Any frustration Danzig’s fans had with the decision was doubtless helped by a $40,000 Fight of the Night perfomance bonus that each received.

The hopes of China were resting on the sole Chinese fighter in the UFC, Tiequan Zhang. Although survived two choke attempts, and lost a unanimous decision to Jon Tuck, it was an impressive effort by both fighters.

In the opening main card fight, Takeya Mizugaki out struck Jeff Hougland both standing and on the mat to take a very unanimous decision.
