You don’t tug on Superman’s cape,
You don’t spit into the wind.
You don’t pull the mask off that old lone ranger,
And you don’t slap Cris Cyborg.

However, a video recently emerged on the social network of Cyborg’s coach Jason Parillo doing just that.

The reaction was summed up by IG member paulflowv, who wrote, “What the f*****ck!?”

However, during a recent interview with Brazil’s Combate, the UFC women’s featherweight champion explained. It’s a technique the coach has been using on her for nearly seven years.

“It’s a slap that I’m not expecting,” she said, as translated by MMAjunkie. “He’s talking to me and then, out of nowhere, gives me this slap. But he does it to wake me up, to see if I’m really there. We’ve been working together for a while and he always does it.

“It’s not something that I like, actually, at the time it makes me want to punch him in the mouth (laughs). It’s something that’s our own, we always do it and it always helps wake me up.”

The next fight for the best fighter in WMMA is uncertain. The champ eminently reasonably wants a division, and a fight with the #1 contender. The UFC is angling for a super fight vs. women’s bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes.
