Dana White: Renan Barao is the P4P champ, if he beats Faber
With back to back losses by Anderson Silva, and George St-Pierre relinquishing his title, the entirely unofficial and ultimately meaningless title of Pound for Pound best fighter in mixed martial arts is in dispute.
The current list of UFC champions contains a number of Pound For Pound best fighter contenders:
Heavyweight : Cain Velasquez
Light Heavyweight: Jon Jones
Middleweight: Chris Weidman
Welterweight: Winner of Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler at UFC 171.
Lightweight: Anthony Pettis
Featherweight: José Aldo
Bantamweight: Renan Barão
Flyweight: Demetrious Johnson
Women’s Bantamweight: Ronda Rousey
UFC president Dana White addressed the issue following UFN 35.
“If Barao goes out and stops Faber, he’s probably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world,” said White.
Barao has not lost since his very first fight in 2005. Barao will face a surging Urijah Faber at UFC 169 on Feb. 1. If he wins, do you think that makes his the P4P best fighter in MMA?
