Eddie Yagin hospitalized with brain swelling, out of Siver fight
Eddie Yagin has been forced out of his scheduled bout with Dennis Siver at UFC on Fox 5 on December 8 due to a serious injury that has landed him in the hospital with swelling around his brain.
“He came home after practice, had a headache, started to vomit whatever liquids he drank and then decided to go to the ER the next day,” said Yagin’s manager, Jason House, who added that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred in training. Yagin hadn’t been knocked out or suffered from any particularly hard blows or anything of the sort.
Yagin’s family was told by his doctor that he believes surgery won’t be necessary, and that the swelling should go down on its own in the coming days.
House expects that Yagin will be in the hospital for at least the next few days to monitor his condition.
Yagin posted a sober message on Facebook:
Trying to stay alive — at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.
Siver posted on his Facebook that Yagin’s replacement will be Nam Phan.
