Gerald Harris retires from MMA at age 34
•Thanks so much for the opportunity but I have a family to take care of so I'm going to have to walk away. I am retiring from Mixed Martial Arts today. @AliAbdelaziz00 @SugarRaySefo @MMAWorldSeries
?•I truly appreciate the support – this is not a joke or a bluff. I am retiring with a win and what I consider a great career. Thanx everyone
Fighting professionally since 2006, Harris, 34, is a veteran of the UFC, DREAM, WSoF, and the IFL, among others. He goes out on his own terms, with a win over Jorge Santiago at WSoF 4. He went 5-1 his last six, losing only to Josh Burkman by decision in 2012.
Harris went 3-1 in the UFC, winning two KO of the Night performance bonus. Oddly, he was released after just one decision loss, a decision to Maiquel Falcao. All other fights were decision wins.
Harris has enjoyed simultaneous careers as a fighter and as a stand up comic. The UnderGround wished him every success in his post fight life.
