Hendricks wants to retire at middleweight
Johny Hendricks immediate goal is to win the UFC welterweight championship, which is has a second chance at when he faces Robbie Lawler. And then of course he would need to defend his title, but eventually hopes to make a move to the middleweight division:
Anyone think “Bigg Rigg” can find success at middleweight when he eventually makes the jump?
“Yes, once I can get through my weight class, I would love to retire at 185. I definitely don’t want to go down a weight class.”
— In order for Johny Hendricks to make the 170-pound limit to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight division, he has to cut down from 220 pounds. That’s 50 pounds “Bigg Rigg” has to shed over the course of a training camp. So it’s no wonder he wants to take his talents to the middleweight division and retire as a 185-pound fighter when it’s all said and done.
