Coenen calls out Ronda Rousey

“It was a long hiatus since my last fight,” said Coenen, who hadn’t competed since her July 2011 loss to Miesha Tate. “I’m not too happy with my performance, but I promise you, next time I will do better.”

Coenen capitalized on the win by calling out current Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey.

“Ronda, I’m coming for you,” she said.

Promoter Shannon Knapp, who is putting on the first all women’s event since Fatal Femmes Fighting in 2007, is bringing order to the Women’s MMA scene in a number of ways including an end to catchweight contests. However, several of the fighters on the card had difficulty making weight, including headliner Romy Ruyssen.

Four fighters wil have to pay a percentage of their purse to the opponent, for missing weight. Further, the Sofia Bagherdai vs. Ashley Cummins fight was very nearly scrapped as the Kansas State Athletic Commission requires that all fighters  weigh within three pounds of their opponent (or five pounds for featherweight) and Bagherdai came in nearly five pound over the 116 pound limit at 120.6, while Cummins made 115. However, Cummins was allowed to weigh in again and, rehydrated, was 121.4.
