Lauzon vs. Danzig bumped to UFC on FOX 9 main card
Unfortunately for Carlos Condit Matt Brown was injured and the fight was removed from next Saturday’s card. One man’s bad luck is another’s good fortune, as Joe Lauzon and Mac Danzig have now been prompted to the main broadcast:
With Matt Brown’s back injury forcing the late scratch of a bout between “The Immortal” and Carlos Condit, a lightweight matchup between Mac Danzig and Joe Lauzon has been promoted to the UFC on FOX 9 main card.
Additionally, the lightweight bout between Cody McKenzie and Sam Stout that was originally expected to take place on the MMAjunkie-stream early prelims has not been moved to the six-fight FOX Sports 1-broadcast preliminary card.
Featuring a flyweight title rematch between current champ Demetrious Johnson and challenger Joseph Benavidez, UFC on FOX 9 takes place Dec. 14 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif.
Although once in title contention, Lauzon now finds himself in a must-wins situation following back-to-back losses and three defeats in his past four fights. While one of the 155-pound division’s most entertaining fighters and a fan favorite, his past two bouts – against Jim Miller and Michael Johnson – have ended in unanimous-decision losses.
