Nate Diaz removed from official rankings
Only hours after TJ Grant was removed, Nick Diaz has been removed from the lightweight rankings, despite having fough just six months ago.

Yesterday in our official rankings update, we noted that after almost a year of inactivity, TJ Grant had been removed from the divisional rankings and everyone else moved up accordingly. That was not surprising.

But in what is a surprising move only hours later, Nate Diaz was also removed from the lightweight rankings:
Champion : Anthony Pettis
1 Gilbert Melendez
2 Benson Henderson
3 Josh Thomson +1
4 Khabib Nurmagomedov +1
5 Donald Cerrone +2
6 Rafael dos Anjos +2
7 Jim Miller +2
8 Gray Maynard +2
9 Myles Jury +2
10 Michael Johnson +2
11 Edson Barboza +2
12 Bobby Green +2
13 Rustam Khabilov +2
14 Jorge Masvidal *NR
15 Joe Lauzon *NR
What makes this update surprising is that Diaz has been active, having fought and beat Gray Maynard in November 2013. The removal from the rankings could be because of Diaz’s recent issues with the UFC, so we’ll wait to see how he replies.
