Penn: I’m coming for the featherweight title

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

BJ Penn is currently coaching the next season of the Ultimate Fighter and will fight opposing coach Frankie Edgar once the season completes. This will be Penn’s first fight in the featherweight division and he’s not planning on just one fight, as he said during a recent Q&A:

Fan: BJ, when you fight Frankie Edgar and beat him, what are you going to do after? Are you going to keep fighting or are you going to retire?

BJ Penn: I’m going to get the 145 lb. belt after

It is undetermined if a win over Edgar will earn him a title shot or not, but his legendary status might just get him the title shot. What is interesting is that Penn recently spent time in Brazil training with his former team and featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
