Pro fighters suffer head on collision, one dead, one airlifted
Professional MMA fighter Chris “SlaughterHouse” Smith was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Scioto County on Thursday evening.
Police said a gray or silver vehicle, possibly a Saturn, tried to make a pass in a no-passing zone on Route 73 which caused an oncoming vehicle to swerve and hit Smith’s car head-on.
A passenger in Smith’s car, Dominique Steele, also of Cincinnati, was airlifted to University Hospital in Cincinnati with non-life-threatening injuries.
Steele, who is also a professional MMA fighter, is 6-2 as a professional with one of those wins coming in Strikeforce.
Ohio State Police said that the driver of the gray or silver vehicle continued eastbound and did not stop after the crash. Anyone with information about the wreck is asked to call the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Patrol at 740-354-2888.

I am enlisting the help of the UG to please try and make a difference. My teammate and close friend lost his life Thursday while traveling to support a teammate who was fighting.
Chris was the most generous and loyal person you will ever meet. He would be at every fight and will give the shirt off his back for any one of his teammates. I am hoping that the MMA community can come together to try and help.
We have started a fund rasier to help with the funeral services for Chris’s untimely death. Anything from 50 cents to a dollar will go a long way. If you can not donate please just pray for him and his family, as they need it most right now.
