RJJ: UFC can’t make up mind about boxing Silva
Roy Jones Jr was recently interviewed by the Russian MMA site MixFight.ru about the long rumored fight between Jones and former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
“Well, as an actual plan, it was an actual plan,” said a jet lagged Jones. “The UFC, which is like M-1,* they're having second thoughts, they're not really making up their mind, whether they want to let him, or not let him. He wants to, because he wants to box. I want to. It's just a matter of the organization giving him the freedom to do it.”
UFC president Dana White's last comments on the potential fight were back in Jan, and corroborated Jones' remarks.
“This stuff drives me crazy,” said White then. “But it’s always interesting with Anderson. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
“Anderson a long way away from throwing a punch or a kick or anything, so let’s see how he recovers before we start talking about fights.”
With Silva rapidly recovering from the leg break, and being potentially leery of kicking and being leg locked, a boxing match with Roy Jones Jr could be the perfect return to combat sports.
