Rousey: Cyborg making no effort to fight me

UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey recently attended a media luncheon ahead of her fight vs. Alexis Davis at UFC 175 on July 5th. When Rousey was asked about whether she wants to fight Invicta featherweight champion Cris Justino, her voice raised.

“I wanted to fight her, but the thing is, she's the one that ran away,” said Rousey as transcribed by Dave Doyle for MMAFighting. “They announced out of competition drug testing in the UFC and within 24 hours she asked for her release.”

“Then she started saying that ‘Oh I won't be able to make 135, because then it will be much harder for me to have kids. Then I was I like ‘you didn't give a flying f— about how having steroids would have affected her kids, let's put an over/under on your miscarriages now just based on that.”

“I would never lose sleep at night over Cris Cyborg in any situation. If she wants to come and get her ass beat, she knows where I'm at. She knows where I'm at. But she's not making any effort to get there.”

Rousey also detailed who she most wants to fight before she retires.

“The first women's MMA fight I ever saw was Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie,” said Rousey. “Not only did I admire what she was doing, but also I was blown away by the reaction all the guys were giving them, and, I just remember sitting there and thinking, ‘I could totally beat both of these chicks.'”

“Whether she ever wants to fight again or not is entirely up to her. But, ever since that day when I had that first taste of women's MMA she's the fight I wanted.”

Rousey also touched on new all women's TUF 20, which will see a women's 115lb champion crowned. Rousey says it will be a relief to not be the sole women's champion.

“115 is a stacked division,” said Rousey. “It's an interesting division and I'm looking forward to it. I'm glad it already has a lot of depth, it's not like they have to build it, and it definitely takes a lot of pressure off of me having another women's champion that they can really get behind and then maybe I don't have to fight so often.”

“I'm really looking forward to seeing how Rose Namajunas is going to do. I feel like she has a lot of potential and she's a really exciting fighter and she's a really interesting character. She's probably going to be the one I'm pulling for the most on the show.”
