Trujillo: I don’t have a game plan
Some fighters are master tacticians and use a savvy game plan to win their fights, and others just fight. Abel Trujillo is one of the latter:
Trujillo on his callouts of Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone and who he would like to fight next: “I wasn't necessarily calling them out. I was just – she asked me who I'd like to fight, so I just threw a couple of names out there. I just want to fight the better guys in the division just to get closer to the belt. Those two names just popped in my head at the time. No disrespect, but they just came up.”
Trujillo on not having a game plan: “Man, I don't have a game plan. I just go in there just to fight, and I don't fight to a decision. I fight to finish.”
Trujillo on how he comes out of tough situations with the win: “My heart and my killer instinct. I'm glad the referee didn't stop it. He literally had to knock me out, and that wasn't going to happen. I wasn't going to shell up or tap out, so it is what it is. I just kept fighting like a true fighter would, and I came out on top.”
Game plan or night, Trujillo's performance was what many fans thought was the only redeeming fight on a night of boring decisions and it earned him $125,000 in bonuses.
