UFC Fight Night 107 performance bonuses and highlights

Saturday, March 18, 2017

The $50,000 performance bonuses at UFC Fight Night 107 were unusual. For one, there was no Fight of the Night. Instead, four bonuses were awarded.

Further, one of the primary differences between the UFC model and the boxing model is the depth of the card. Sometimes the best UFC fights are all the way down on the UFC Fight Pass prelims. At UFC Fight Night London, the main event, co-main, and third fight from the top all won bonuses.

Performance of the Night: $50,00
Jimi Manuwa defeated Corey Anderson by Knockout (Punch, Round 1, 3:05)

Performance of the Night: $50,000 bonus
Gunnar Nelson defeated Alan Jouban by Submission (Guillotine Choke, Round 2, 0:46)

Performance of the Night: $50,000 bonus
Marlon Vera
defeated Brad Pickett by TKO (Strikes, Round 2, 3:50)

Performance of the Night: $50,000 bonus
Marc Diakiese
defeated Teemu Packalen by Knockout (Punch, Round 1, 0:30)

There are several other ways to get paid in the UFC, beyond bonuses and the obvious X/X, fixed amount to show, with another generally equal amount to win. This sum is usually made public, although it depends on the governing rules of the commission.

In addition, there are:
•Reebok pay, based on tenure, for wearing the distinctive apparel during fight week and in the Octagon;
•Sometimes fighters get discretionary “locker room” bonuses of varying amounts; despite their name, locker room bonuses actually come in the mail now;
•In some cases there is an LOA [Letter of Agreement] on the contract for additional income; and
•The most elite fighters get points on the pay per view.

The next UFC event is UFC 210: Cormier vs. Johnson 2, on April 8, 2017, at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.
