White: I’m not every fighter’s father
The UFC President claims he hasn’t spoken to the 29-year-old about the situation, but thinks another positive drug test for Diaz would be “crazy.”
From his conversation at Tuesday’s UFC 158 pre-fight press conference in Montreal:
“Listen, I’m not his father. I mean, it would be crazy (if he tested positive again) but, it’s like when I talk to the media and stuff sometimes they’re like, ‘What are you going to do about steroids? Or what are you going to do about this, what are you going to do about that?’ I got 475 guys under contract that live all over the world, I’m not your father. We’re regulated by the government, the government comes in and regulates us. If you do steroids, if you smoke weed, if you do any other banned substances you’re going to get caught, you’re going to get fined and you’re going to lose the ability to make a living for a year. I mean, I don’t know what else to say.”
But what would White do if Diaz tests positive again? Especially in a situation where he defeats St. Pierre? The UFC President is unsure what his course of action would be; all he knows is that it wouldn’t be fun to deal with.
“It would be (expletive) brutal,” he said. “I don’t know what we would do. I would want to jump off a bridge.”
