Belfort wants CM Punk for final fight?!?

Welterweight CM Punk is the worst UFC fighter since Joe Son. Vitor Belfort is a former world champion at middleweight. However, The Phenom has only one fight left on his contract; he wants to fight in Brazil at UFC 212 on June 3, at light heavyweight, and then retire.

During a recent interview with Brazil’s AG Fight, Belfort named an opponent.

“I’m going to talk to them (UFC), but I want this fight at 205 pounds”, said Belfort. “I would love to do this fight in this category.”

“It would have to be an interesting fighter, but not a top fighter. I’ve been fighting good guys before: Dan Henderson, Weidman, ‘Jacare’, Mousasi and now Kelvin. These are all hard fights, so if you can book a smoother fight… What’s the name of that guy from WWE? CM Punk would be a good fight”, Belfort laughed. “CM Punk, let’s get it on. That would be a really good fight.”

In 2014 Belfort had one of the great runs in the sport’s history, beating Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold, and Dan Henderson, all by head kick KO. Then the use of TRT was effectively ended in MMA, and Belfort has gone 1-4 since. At 39, and without PEDs, he is not the fighter he was. But he’s not CM Punk, either.
