Double KO with one winner at Shamrock FC 285
So what do you do when both fighters go out?

Mixed martial arts doesn’t technically have knockouts. Instead, the fight is stopped when a fighter can no longer intelligently defending him or herself. However, intelligent defense only becomes relevant in the face of an attack.
So what do you do when both fighters go out?
This a tale of a Double KO. It took place at Shamrock FC 285 at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.
Featherweights Alan Vasquez and Axel Cazares were having a good first round with Vasquez pressing at the 1:30 mark. Cazares landed a beautifully time fading right that landed perfectly, sending Vasquez flat down on the canvas. However, at the same moment, Vasquez too landed a right on Cazares. But, Vasquez was flattened, with Cazares only slumped against the cage.
With one fighter down and one leaning on the fence, it appeared to be over. The referee, however, realized both fighters were moving to a degree and neither was in need of any intelligent defense, so he sagely gave the fight moments to continue.
Vasquez may have been woken up by the force of the fall, and he struggled to his feet. Meanwhile, Cazares was unable to right himself off the fence, and instead showed the effects of gravity.
The ref the stopped the fight, awarding it to your winner … Alan Vasquez.
Vasquez paid a heavy price for the win, with a very broken nose.
